Save and load routes

In order for you to work efficiently in PTV Map&Guide across several sessions, routes can be saved and recalled again later. Routes can be saved in the “Private” or “Public” folder.

  • Routes in the “Private” folder are available only to you.

  • Routes in the “Public” folder can also be accessed by other users.

When you save a route for the first time, it is always stored in the “Private” folder. By moving the route to the “Public” folder, you can make it available to other users.

To save a stop list or route, proceed as follows:

  1. Create your stop list or route (see “Create and edit the Route").

  1. Click on the “<Route functions> button (marked by three dots) to the right of your route title. This opens the menu with functions for loading, saving, importing and exporting routes and stop lists.

  1. You have two options:

    • Choose “Save Route as...” to save the route for the first time. You will be asked to enter a unique name.

    • Choose “Save Route” to save changes to your route. The first time a route is saved, the name is taken from the header of the stop list.

      Attention: If there is already a route with this name, you can either assign a new name or overwrite the existing route.

Your route is now saved in the “Private” folder and can be called up again at a later time.

When closing the stop list via the “X", a query with the following options appears:

  • "Save route in “Private” and close” → saves the route under the current name in the private folder. If there is already a route under this name, you can then choose a new name or overwrite the existing route.

  • "Save route in “Public” and close” → saves the route under the current name in the public folder. If there is already a route under this name, you can then choose a new name or overwrite the existing route.

  • "Save as” → allows you to enter a new name.

  • "Close without saving” → discards all changes.

Note: When a route is saved, the Settings for dynamic route calculation are also saved.

To load a saved stop list or route, proceed as follows:

  1. Click on the “<Route functions> button (marked by three dots) to the right of your route title. This opens the menu with functions for loading, saving, importing and exporting routes and stop lists.

  2. Click “Load Route” to open a stored route.

  1. The “Load Route” panel is displayed. All saved routes are listed here under the “Routes” tab. The list is divided into private routes (accessible only to you) and public routes (accessible to all users). Within each folder, the saved routes are sorted by date. You can use the magnifying glass icon to search for the desired route.

    Note: For easier identification, private routes are marked with the symbol and public routes with the symbol.

  1. If you click one of the saved routes, a simplified preview of the route is displayed in the map view. The preview shows the stops in the correct order, but without exact routing.

  2. With a click on the arrow button in the selected line, the route is loaded and is available for further use.

Note: Via the

  • button in the selected line you can rename the route

  • button in the selected line you can delete the route

Attention: Deletion takes place immediately and cannot be undone.

  • To make a private route publicly accessible, drag and drop it from the “Private” folder to the “Public” folder. The route thus becomes available to all other users.

  • To remove a public route from public access, drag and drop it from the “Public” folder to the “Private” folder.

    Warning: Other users will then no longer be able to find this route!
