Finding freights

Note: You will only be able to access this function if you have been assigned the appropriate rights in the administration tool.

PTV Map&Guide intranet provides a connection to the Teleroute freight exchange. You can find additional freights along the route, when returning to the starting point or in a radius around a stop-off point.

By adding extra freights, vehicles are more efficiently utilised and empty return trips are avoided.

Note: In order for you to be able to use all the functions, you will require access rights to Teleroute freight exchange. Access rights are available on the Internet from the Teleroute freight exchange website.

Finding freights along the route

  • Enter the stop-off points on your route.

  • On the toolbar click on Freights.

The route is calculated and freights are searched for along the route. All found freight is listed in the Freight exchange tab and displayed on the map.

In order to refine the results of the freight search, various settings can be made in the tab Freight search. Information on this can be found in the article .

Tip: Use the little black arrow on the button Freight to change the type of freight search.

Finding freights for the return trip

  • Enter the stop-off points on your route.

  • On the toolbar click on the small black arrow next to Freight.

  • Select the entry Search for freight back to point of departure.

It will search for freight for the return trip. All freight found for the return trip is listed in the Freight exchange tab and displayed on the map.

In order to refine the results of the freight search, various settings can be made in the tab Freight search. Information on this can be found in the article .

Searching for freights near a stop-off point

  • Select the required stop-off point in the list of stop-off points.

  • In the toolbar, click on the small black arrow next to  Freight

  • Choose the entry Find freight near selected stop-off point.

The freights are search for near the stop-off point. All found freight is listed in the Freight exchange tab and displayed on the map.

Selecting suitable freight

The freight Freight exchange tab which was found is displayed in a list and on the map.

Tip: The freights are displayed on the map using arrows from pickup to delivery point. If you click a freight on the map, the corresponding freight is shown in the list.

The freight search can be refined using various search criteria, for example loading date, load capacity, truck type etc. Before you accept the freight, the exact data can be shown in Teleroute and a cost comparison made.

Refining freight search

  • Make the required settings in Search criteria.

    Element Description
    Drop-down list Loading date Choice of date when the freight should be available for loading.
    Drop-down list Maximum radius

    Note: The drop-down list is only available when searching for freight near a stop-off point.

    Entry or selection of the maximum radius in which freight is searched for around the selected stop-off point.

    Drop-down list Type of goods Selection of types of goods which is included in the freight search.
    Weight [t] from/to Entry of the minimum and maximum weight of the freight to be searched for.
    Length/Load metre [m] from/to Entry of the minimum and maximum load metre of the freight to be searched for.
    Truck type Choice of lorry type which can be used to transport the freight.
     Automatically calculate additional route If this option is enabled, the expected detour in kilometres is added.
  • On the toolbar click on Freights

The list of freights found is updated according to your search criteria.

Open and book freight in Teleroute

Note: In order to open the freight in Teleroute you require access rights to the Teleroute freight exchange. Access rights are available on the Internet from the Teleroute freight exchange website.

  • Select the required freight or several items of freight in the section Freight found.

  • Click on Open in Teleroute located above the list.

The contact data of the Teleroute freight exchange is displayed.

Quick comparison

The quick comparison calculates the additional time caused by each freight.

Calculating additional costs

You can check if the freight is profitable for you.

PTV Map&Guide intranet calculates the additional expense involved in loading a freight.

  • Select the required freight or several items of freight in the section Freight found.

  • Click on Additional costs at the top of the list.

The calculated values for the following data are shown in the list:

  • Additional time

  • Additional kilometres

  • Additional toll

  • Additional route costs

  • Extra total costs

Including freights in stop-off point list

  • Select the required freight in the section Freight found.
  • Click on Stop-off points list at the top of the list.

The selected freight or the selected freights are included in the correct position in the list of stop-off points.
