Note on geocoding

PTV Map&Guide internet can only work with addresses if they are geocoded. In geocoding, a coordinate in the map is assigned to the postal address. To do this, the postal address is searched for in the location database and, if there is a matching address, the coordinates entered in the location database are transferred.

All transferred stop-off points that do not contain PTV Mercator coordinates are geocoded automatically during the import, because a route calculation cannot occur without coordinates. The best hit is accepted as the value during the automatic geocoding. The better the address quality, the better the automatic geocoding. In case of ambiguous results, the imported addresses are highlighted in yellow in the stop-off points list of PTV Map&Guide internet. You can edit these by double clicking on the address and then adjusting the address data accordingly.

Note:  The external program that calls up Remote Control receives no feedback about the results of the geocoding.

Please note that you will receive the best results if your addresses have already been geocoded, as it means that they already possess PTV Mercator coordinates during importation.
